Does food control your life?
Do you regularly cycle through “getting back on track” only to then binge and fall off?
Do you fear social events?
Do you regularly compare yourself to peers?
Do you remove and avoid food because you always overeat it?
Do you regularly blame your motivation?
Do you want fat loss but feel lost?
If so, listen up.
January 2024 saw the onboarding of an absolutely legend client, who initially said to me in her application;
“I want to stop binge eating and being consumed by food”
“I want to be able to eat and enjoy a balanced diet without an all or nothing approach”
Alison had tried numerous times to diet, but each time she found she was dieting away her relationship with food, and heightening her all or nothing thinking.
Alison, over the years, had accumulated a tonne of beliefs around food.
Food was bad,
Food made her gain weight,
Eating out was going off track,
Food had to be clean, healthy, all the time.
She wasn’t allowed to eat certain food.
She was better off avoiding food.
Slimming world in particular also had Alison associate her worth with the scales, mood dictated by what she saw.
If Alison had lost weight she liked herself.
If Alison had gained weight she hated herself.
It was a constant battle.
A battle between food, her body, and wanting change.
Alison felt stuck, in a mental battle, not knowing how to free herself.
But luckily she came to the one place, that, with your commitment and courage, guarantees change.
Alison committed, from day one. I knew she was going to be successful from her openness and willingness to change, likely because our relationship hit the ground running, she trusted me, I believed in her, I had the methodology to help.
Throughout the process we channeled the core principles of thrive into Alison’s life.
We went from having a “mind full of food” to being “mindful with food”
We went from avoiding and over restriction to inclusion and moderation.
We went from fearing and over thinking social events to weekly dates with her partner with joy and happiness.
We went from constantly fixating on the scales, constantly body checking to finding gratitude and acceptance.
We went from all or nothing to balance.
We went from blaming her motivation for exercise to getting for daily walks and actually enjoying them.
We went from stress eating with work, to reflection and resilience.
Throughout the process we channeled imperfection and acceptance.
There were times Alison did overeat, she is human.
There were times Alison thought she’d failed.
There were times Alison contemplated quitting.
But each time Alison showed the strength and bravery to keep going, each time we worked through the challenges to get to a place of comfort.
Alison ended coaching, felt ready to go at it alone, which is always my goal.
Recently I received an email from Alison, who has been working on her own process with the mindset flex, behaviour change and habits we formed.
Her progress is a testament to what you can achieve when you commit;
